It wasn’t obvious to me until much later in my artistic career that my upbringing as a youngster growing up in Hawaii had an enormous influence on my woodturning creations. My grandparents on both sides maternal and paternal were supporters of the arts in Hawaii in different ways. One set of grandparents were collectors and supporters of glass artisans, the other side were professional lei makers and musicians. Their influences at times still come to me in my creations, now I see shapes that were long ago etched in my memory and growing up in Hawaii.
